POLICE have had a good response to a plea for help as they investigate a brutal attack on a pub doorman.

The appeal featured on the front page of yesterday's Examiner and prompted many calls to the police, giving officers names of suspects.

Doorman Peter Sears, who worked at The Blob Shop in Queensgate, was partially blinded in one eye in June after he was struck by a stone thrown at him.

Police released a video image of a man they wanted to contact in connection with the incident.

Pc Dave McSweeney said: "We have had a number of calls to Crimestoppers and the police station naming the person in the photo- graph.

"However, he was with a group of youths and we would like them to come forward," added Pc McSweeney.
