POLICE in Huddersfield have renewed an appeal for witnesses after an armed raid in Birkby.

They want to track down two thugs armed with a gun who held up a betting office.

The robbery happened around 6pm on Friday, December 22.

The manager of a bookmakers on St John's Road, Birkby, had closed up for the night and was about to leave the premises with a friend when two men forced their way into the building.

The manager handed the robbers an amount of cash, and they then left via a fire door at the rear of the building.

Both victims were left shaken and the manager's friend received a minor head injury.

The robbers are described as two black men, both around 5ft 8 to 5ft 9 inches tall, wearing all dark clothing and balaclavas. They were in their late teens, one was slim and the other stocky.
