THREE men have been arrested on suspicion of stealing garden equipment in Kirklees.

And police are now wanting to trace potential owners of the 22 items of garden equipment recovered from the burglary which happened in the early hours of October 21.

Police received reports that three men had been seen entering the St Matthews centre on Cemetery Road in Dewsbury. The men had been carrying a large number of items including ladders and other DIY equipment.

Officers then seized items inside a flat at the centre.

Pc Neil Williams, of the Dewsbury Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “At this time we have not identified owners for the property. If anyone can identify any of it as theirs, which has perhaps been stolen from a shed or garage which hasn’t been noticed yet, they should contact the NPT office at Dewsbury with details of the property, where it had been stored, when they noticed it was missing and any proof of ownership which can be produced.

“Callers will be spoken to by our officers and, if they can identify the property, we will look to have it returned to them as soon as possible.”

The three men arrested on suspicion of theft have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Items recovered include ladders, power tools, taps and shower fittings, garden equipment and power tools.
