Here's an April Fools' prank you would probably want to be real — Rosetta Stone announced the launch of its new 'Dog' language course allowing dog lovers to communicate with their pets.

It said: "After a short, easy-to-follow course in canine conversation, pet owners will finally get the chance to chat to their pooch as they stroll through the countryside, and put an end to dinner dilemmas by finding out exactly what Fido wants in his food bowl." Doesn't that sound lovely?

Reader Lynn Starling received this email from ASDA this morning — she said she didn't fall for it though!

Today Sainsbury's announced a new product to revolutionise home baking — Taste The Difference No-Yolk Eggs. In a press release, it claims the eggs are laid exclusively for the supermarket chain by free-range Amber Whites chickens in a bid to save home bakers the turmoil separating egg whites from yolks.

It said: "
The secret to producing No-Yolks is in the chickens’ nutrition. The Amber White chickens are raised on a diet of solely white foods, such as rice, cauliflower, and onions." Cracking eggs-ample of an April Fool prank!

Cow gives birth to zebra calf on RSPCA Freedom Food farm

Would you believe in a baby 'zow'?
Would you believe in a baby 'zow'?

The RSPCA has reported that a dairy calf resembling a zebra has been born on an RSPCA Freedom Food farm. Apparently, the one-day-old ‘zow’ calf - aptly named ‘Daizee’ by farmer Imes Demmiks - was born on Taf Lluf farm, Horsham, West Sussex.

And to top it all off, the zebra markings increase Vitamin Z production in the cow's milk — which is what makes people feel sleepy. As curiously named RSPCA Freedom Food farm assessor Mary Bullock says: “Everyone knows a mug of warm milk before bed can help you sleep at night but to think this zow calf has the potential to produce proper sleep-inducing milk really is something else." Indeed.

It offers eggs that are 17 days into their 21-day incubation period — with chicks due to hatch in time for Easter. Sounds messy.

A contact lens range was rumoured for later in the year.

Jo Delbridge, head of pet product development at Specsavers, said: "There are those in the business who feel we're barking up the wrong tree, but our market research indicates that the new glasses are purrfect.’ Groan.

Sounds like a great adventure for thrill-seekers, but sadly this news item from Whitelink Ferries hoped to make an April Fool out of you. The Isle of Wight ferry firm said it was planing water ski crossings from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier, towing travellers along by its Catamaran ferries.

It said: "Sailing at speeds of up to 23 knots, skiers are sure to be tested to their limits with this adrenaline-fueled, three-mile ride to the Isle of Wight." Good grief.

Canal delivery — would you have believed it?
Canal delivery — would you have believed it?

If you would have fallen for Time4Sleep's 'take your bed abroad' prank, this one might have made a fool of you too. Furniture Choice announced plans for its new UK-wide canal delivery service in response to customer demand. It said canal delivery would be greener, wouldn't struggle with traffic and would be safe with little risk of damage to the furniture 'provided it isn't raining'.

It said: "We're offering two different tiers of our canal delivery service: CanalChoice, the standard three-day delivery, or CanalPlus, which utilises the power of two extra canal horses and half-a-dozen strong and eager men to get your items to you as quick as a flash."

Trials in West Yorkshire apparently went well — apart from one major incident, resulting in a brief dredging of the area around Bingley Five-Rise Locks to recover a shipment of three gel mattresses." Well done Furniture Choice.
