A SHOPKEEPER was hurt in an attempted armed robbery.

Two men - one with a gun and the other carrying a baton - went in the shop on Intake Lane, Brookroyd, Batley, at 8.40pm on Friday.

They demanded cash and hit the shop owner with the baton, but ran off empty-handed.

The shopkeeper suffered minor injuries.

One of the men was described as 6ft tall, slim and with a local accent. He was wearing a cream hooded top, a baseball cap, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

The other man was about 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a dark hooded top, blue jeans, a baseball cap and white trainers.

Both men were believed to have been loitering outside the shop before the incident.
