ARMED robbers stole thousands of pounds from a Huddersfield supermarket last night.
Two masked men carrying crowbars burst into the Lidl store on Castlegate at 8pm just as staff were closing for the evening.
A security guard was injured in the incident.
The store is only 100 yards from Huddersfield's main police headquarters, on the other side of the ring road.
The robbers escaped with £4,000 in cash and drove off in a blue saloon car which had been stolen from Brighouse on Wednesday night.
Police hunting the raiders have yet to release detailed descriptions.
The vehicle, a blue Honda Accord, was found burning in Water Street, Springwood, at 10.45pm.
Huddersfield firefighters spent 30 minutes tackling that blaze.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
