A HUDDERSFIELD teenager has been named the top Army cadet in the region.
Kane Walton-Bell, 17, from Kirkheaton, won the prestigious Cadet of the Year award for the Yorkshire North and West region after taking part in a two-day competition.
The intense contest, at Strensall, York, involved nine finalists taking written exams, a four kilometre timed march, a shoot, a full kit inspection and drill. Ryan Driver, of Thongsbridge, was second, and Chris Oates, of Spen Valley, third.
