A TEENAGER has been arrested after the mugging of an 82-year- old woman.

But police are still keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident, at the top of Leymoor Road in Golcar, at 6pm on Monday.

The woman uses a walking stick and was holding her purse and fish and chips she had just bought in her left hand.

She felt a shove and stumbled forward, dropping the food.

Her purse was then grabbed.

The suspect was seen fleeing on a bike down Leymoor Road, past the Rising Sun pub.

Pc Dave McSweeney, of Huddersfield police, said: "The area would have been busy at the time and we appeal to anyone who saw what happened to come forward."

Police arrested a 16-year-old Golcar youth yesterday. He has since been released on police bail.

Anyone with information should phone Det Sgt Dave Campbell on 01484 436582.
