A FORMER teacher who admitted setting fire to her own classroom has appeared in court on another arson charge.

Amina Ditta, of Golcar, was sentenced in May 2003 after she pleaded guilty to causing a blaze in a temporary classroom at Atlas Primary School in Lincoln Close, Manningham, Bradford.

A judge made Ditta, who was then 24, the subject of a community rehabilitation order and ordered her to do 100 hours' community service work.

She had admitted a charge of arson with intent to destroy or damage school property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.

Ditta, now 27 and living in Glastonbury Drive, appeared before a judge at Bradford Crown Court yesterday, but the sentencing for her latest offences was adjourned.

The latest charges relate to offences of damaging a Mercedes car by fire and wasteful employment of police time by making a false report.

The offences were committed in June this year and dealt with by Huddersfield magistrates, but no details were given in court.

Barrister Jayne Beckett, for Ditta, expressed concern about dealing with her sentence in light of reports from a psychiatrist and a psychologist, which had followed a pre-sentence report by the probation service.

Mrs Beckett conceded it was a "very troubling" case and asked for an adjournment so that a further updated report could be prepared by the probation service.

Ditta, who used to live in Bradford, was warned that an adjournment of her case was no indication as to the likely sentence.

She was granted bail with a condition of residence to return to the Crown Court for sentence in January.
