A SPATE of arson attacks hit one area of Huddersfield on the same night.

Firefighters were called after a sofa dumped outside a house on Elder Road, Bradley was set alight at 10.05pm on Wednesday.

Crews were then called to a skip on fire at York Avenue, Fartown, around midnight.

And at 3.30am on Thursday, louts torched a large area of long grass behind Ashbrow Infant and Nursery School, Sheepridge.

A dogwalker spotted the blaze and raised the alarm.

Firefighters had to use water backpacks to reach the flames.

Crew manager Steve Mosley said: “The fires were all in the same area. There did seem to be a pattern emerging”.
