THE National Coal Mining Museum near Flockton is opening its doors to artists.

Halifax artist Jane Gamble will be running a landscape watercolour workshop at the museum on May 14.

The workshop, entitled You Can Paint A Landscape!, is her second event at the museum.

Last year, she tutored students of all ages and abilities to paint landscapes from life, rather than from pictures.

At the workshop on May 14, the painters will spend an hour looking at technique and then move outside to paint.

Artists are welcome to bring their own materials, but for first-time painters, Jane will make up a beginner's pack of 12 paint colours, an A3 watercolour pad and four brushes.

However, items which everyone must bring themselves include a protective shirt, a water carrier, an old plate or palette, a board and clips to hold the paper on the board if it is windy.

The cost of the course is £37.50, which includes a buffet lunch and refreshment. The optional beginner's equipment pack costs £38.
