A CHRISTMAS party was organised by Huddersfield Asian Christians to celebrate community cohesion.

Among those attending the event at Huddersfield Methodist Mission were the Bishop of Pontefract, Tony Robinson and main organiser, Huddersfield peace campaigner, Canon Yaqub Masih, a lay canon at Wakefield Cathedral.

He said: “Around 50 people from all faiths attended including representatives from the police, church leaders, Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus.

“This is the first time we have done this and we are hoping it will become an annual event.”

He joked: “To keep everyone happy we are having Asian cuisine as well as a Christmas cake afterwards.”
