TWO drivers escaped unhurt after this crash in Huddersfield.

But the accident yesterday afternoon in Wakefield Road, Aspley, brought traffic misery for hundreds.

Roads in and out of Huddersfield town centre were brought to a standstill after the crash at 1.30pm.

Some drivers said they did not move for more than 10 minutes.

The Ford Transit van and Ford Mondeo collided at the junction of Wakefield Road and St Andrew’s Road.

Police had to shut part of Wakefield Road and divert traffic around the scene.

That caused long delays for drivers on Wakefield Road and on stretches of the ring road, including Southgate and Queensgate.

It was the second ring road snarl up in eight days – last Tuesday commuters were held up for hours after a bus crashed on the junction of Southgate and Northumberland Street.
