A CASE against a man accused of assault and criminal damage has been dropped.

Nicolas Wignall, of Lightcliffe Road in Crosland Moor, was due to stand trial at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.

He was accused of assaulting Louise Boothroyd on April 17.

Wignall faced a further charge of damaging an LG television, leather sofa and bed worth £950 belonging to Miss Boothroyd.

The 27-year-old denied the charges and faced trial at the Huddersfield court.

However the witness failed to attend court and no evidence against him was offered.

Magistrates told Wignall at the case was dismissed.
