A 47-YEAR-old man was brutally assaulted in a Huddersfield town centre pub on New Year's Eve.

Police were called to The Crown public House, Westgate, at about 11.06pm after the victim was discovered seriously injured in the men's toilets.

It is believed he was attacked after being followed into the toilets by another male seen drinking in the pub with a woman.

The man, from Huddersfield, suffered a broken arm, dislocated elbow and head injuries in the assault.

Police are now examining CCTV footage.

The attacker, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, is white, 6 ft tall, with a stocky build and a shaved head.

He was wearing a cream waist length jacket with a dark shirt underneath.
