HEALTH bosses are being asked why they got a zero rating in the latest hospital league tables.

The question comes from Kirklees Council Tory group leader Robert Light.

He said the results of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust were `abysmal'.

Hospitals run by the trust include Dewsbury District Hospital.

Clr Light said an explanation was needed about the trust's £18m debts and other problems.

"The people of north Kirklees deserve to know the truth about something as fundamentally important as the state of their health care provision," he said.

Health bosses have said action is being taken to deal with the trust's finances and also to make improvements elsewhere.
