A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with a churchyard bagsnatch which left a 73-year-old woman in hospital.

Police swooped on an address in Dewsbury last night to arrest the man at 10.30pm.

He was taken to Dewsbury Police Station where he is due to be questioned today.

The arrest relates to an attack on a lone pensioner in a Dewsbury churchyard on Wednesday.

The woman was walking through St Michael's Church yard in Thornhill at lunchtime when a man attacked her from behind.

He ripped her bag from her shoulder and forced her to the ground.

In the attack, the frail pensioner suffered a broken wrist and a broken bone in her arm.
