AUCTIONEERS hoping to sell medals from a former Town soccer hero report great interest.

Charlie Wilson was a striker with the club as it won back to back league titles in the 1920s.

Now his football medals and those from his wartime military career, are up for auction on May 29 at the Staffordshire auction house Cuttlestones.

Auctioneer Ben Gamble said: “There has been a lot of interest and we would hope the collection will go for anything between £6,000 and £10,000.

“We have been corrected about Charlie’s military past, as it turns out he was in the Army and not the RAF”.
