A CHARITY auction has raised more than £1,800 for Holmfirth rugby club Underbank Rangers.

The auction was held at New Mill Working Men’s Club to raise money for club funds.

It was organised by club committee members Jill Baker and Bev Jessop.

Jill said: “It was a brilliant night. We have raised more than £1,800 but the final total could increase. All the money will go to buying equipment or facilities.

“It was the first time we have done a fundraising event for the whole club instead of just different age groups. It will be the first of many.”

The auction was split into sections for children and adults.

Two hundred prizes were donated by local and national companies, including Super League tickets, signed shirts from Bradford Bulls and Castleford Tigers and a signed ball from Oldham Roughyeds.

Oldham players Drew Houston and Jason Boults were at the auction to sell off the ball.
