Audacious thieves duped their way into West Yorkshire Fire HQ to steal valuable equipment.

Thieves claiming to be contractors were let onto the premises at Birkenshaw at 3.14pm on Thursday, January 15.

Once inside they drove over to a 240v generator and broke off the wheel clamp.

The men then attached it to their Ford Transit van and drove off.

The men were on site for just seven minutes.

Two or three suspects, wearing dark clothing and woolly hats, appear to have been involved.

The stolen generator has West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue in Black lettering across the side and the words WHISPAGEN written across the top of it in pale white lettering.

Anyone with any information about this offence, or who has seen the generator at any time, is asked to please contact Pc 1245 Merrick at Batley Police Station on 01924 295301.
