A HUDDERSFIELD church has won another award.

Cathedral House on St Thomas’s Road has been awarded a commendation at the 2010 Civic Trust Awards, announced today.

The church, home of the Huddersfield Christian Fellowship, received Civic Trust Awards National Panel Special Recognition.

The status has been awarded to 12 projects this year, which have had a positive impact on the surrounding community.

The £14m Cathedral House, designed by Aedas, was completed in 2008.

The giant church, which includes a book shop and cafe, can welcome up to 2,200 people at any time.

Cathedral House has won several architectural awards including the community project award at the fifth annual Building Excellence Awards, one month after its official opening.

Launched in 1959, the Civic Trust Awards is one of the oldest construction award schemes in Europe.

Awards are granted every March after judging in October and November.
