PEOPLE who went on a pioneering scheme which runs trips to the Lake District are invited to a reunion.

Anyone who has been a volunteer or has gone on the Personal Award for Excellence scheme is invited to the reunion on Saturday to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

It was originally set up by Keighley Police and Keighley Cougars Rugby League Club to reward 20 local 15- year-old students for their unsung efforts.

But it has continued to grow and now takes 60 young people from Keighley, Huddersfield and Bradford to the Lake District each summer for a week of outdoor activities.

Keighley Police's Community Safety Department is hosting the party at Keighley Rugby League Club's Cougar Park ground from 7.30pm to 11pm.

The Personal Award for Excellence is a residential week away rewarding young people who have contributed something to their school and community in a positive way.

Pc Lee Holmes said: "We've had young people who have looked after the disabled, those who have been carers for brothers, sisters and parents and others who have done shopping for the blind and elderly.

"The scheme is our way of thanking these positive young role models."
