MORE than 30 union members have been recognised for their long service.

Amicus, the UK's largest union for manufacturing, technical and skilled workers, awarded Huddersfield members with long service badges for 40 years' membership at a ceremony at the St Patrick's Centre.

Branch secretary Mary Chapple, of Holmfirth, said it was fantastic to get all the veteran members together.

She said: "I have only recently become the branch secretary and decided to hold a long service awards because we have not done one for a long time.

"We decided to keep it very simple and not bother with music or anything like and just let the members chat and get to know each other.

"And of course lots of them knew each other from their working days."
