IT'S a special night tonight for seven women.

They will be the first to be presented with certificates after completing Kirklees Council's Womenfirst initiative.

The scheme helps black and ethnic minority women to boost their confidence and help them get back into work.

Women receiving certificates tonight at Huddersfield University are Ruksana Rashid, of Newsome; Isobel John, of Deighton; Ann-Marie John, of Fartown; Ruksana Bibi, of Huddersfield; Brida Flaherty, of Huddersfield; Wendy Edmund, of Kirkheaton, and Fehmida Bibi, of Birkby.

The women completed a 13-week programme, which included training in technical skills useful at home and in the workplace.
