HUDDERSFIELD people are being urged to dig out their old photos and cine film ready for the arrival of a national film production company.

Past In Pictures, a maker of local interest and nostalgia videos, has chosen Huddersfield to add to its collection of DVDs and videos.

The film will provide a fascinating insight into life in Huddersfield, from the introduction of photography in 1850 right through to now.

From scenes of wartime hardship, to glorious days filled with carnivals, royal visits and street parties, the film promises to capture every aspect of a bygone era.

The company's founder, Stephen Lilley, says: " We employ a dedicated team of researchers and historians to ensure that our films are a true and accurate reflection of people's fondest memories.

"To re-create these treasured moments on screen we are appealing to everyone in Huddersfield to rummage around in their cupboards and attics for any old photos, postcards or cine film clips.

"We are particularly interested in photos depicting lively street scenes, as well as images of local buildings and familiar landmarks."

All submissions will be returned by post in the same condition.

Also, any photos or clips for the final production will be credited to the sender at the end of the film.

Send material, along with your name and address, to: Past In Pictures, 35 Eaton Bank, Duffield, Derbyshire DE56 4BJ. Queries should be directed to Mr Lilley on 01332 840 292.

The finished film will be available to buy at tourist information and heritage centres, as well as on the internet and at some supermarkets and newsagents.
