AN ANNUAL campaign to show men’s opposition to domestic violence started this week.

The White Ribbon Campaign is the world’s biggest movement of men working to stop violence by men against women.

Men wear white ribbons every year to show their support.

This year’s 16-day campaign started on Sunday.

Colne Valley MP Kali Mountford, who is on the cross-party domestic violence group, said: “A lot of progress has been made to stop domestic violence – but some men still see violence to women as an accepted part of life.

“Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.

“Domestic abuse still goes on behind too many front doors and it’s a crime which destroys families.”
