POOR managers are more of a problem than red tape, according to Huddersfield’s MP.

Barry Sheerman made the claim in a debate about business regulation in Parliament.

The Labour backbencher told business minister Mark Prisk: “Forty-three per cent of managers in the country are rated as poor. Let us do something about management, rather than going on about red tape.”

Mr Prisk replied: “We cannot ignore the fact that 11,000 elements on the statute book impose a burden on many businesses.”
