THREE directors of Dewsbury Rugby League Club - which failed with debts topping £212,000 - have agreed to be banned from management.

They have undertaken not to hold directorships or take any part in company management following an investigation by the Government's Insolvency Service.

The club was placed in administration in October, 2001, owing creditors £212,463.

The club, based at The Owl Stadium, Owl Lane, Shaw Cross, now has new owners.

Robert Hugh McDermott, 58, of Wheelwright Drive, Dewsbury, was banned from being a company director for six years.

David Gray Whyte Frame, 54, of Glebe Field Drive, Wetherby, and Paul Richard Smith, 56, of New Farnley, Leeds, were disqualified for three years.

Despite the ban, Mr McDermott was given permission by Dewsbury County Court to remain as a director of four companies - Supersys, Supersys Asset Management, Online Orders.com and Card Manager.

The court heard that the directors allowed the rugby club to continue trading when they should have known it was insolvent.

The Insolvency Service said Mr McDermott also failed to ensure that the club registered for VAT at the proper time and failed to ensure that its VAT affairs were properly dealt with between January and October, 2000.
