AN ARMY band played host to a group of young musicians.
Members of the Band of the Yorkshire Regiment organised a wind band workshop at the Territorial Army band’s new rehearsal room at the Drill Hall, on St Paul’s Street.
The group worked with members of the Senior Wind Band from the Holme Valley Music Centre.
The workshop focused on helping the young musicians with their repertoire and focused on stage posture and professionalism.
The day was organised by permanent staff instructor Sgt Phil Kershaw and Phillip Garlick and Simeon Yates from Kirklees Music School, which the centre is part of.
Director of music, Capt Garry Glegg, said he was delighted at the standard of the musicians from the Holme Valley.
The former Holmfirth High School pupil described the day as a great day of music making.
There is still a chance for local musicians to join the Yorkshire Regiment TA Band, especially clarinet and cornet players.
