WEATHER expert Paul Stevens has predicted a mixed bank holiday weekend – with better to come.

After a very wet August, the Salendine Nook meteorologist said Huddersfield residents could enjoy the outdoors at times over this weekend.

He said: “We have got a bit of a mixed bag of a weekend.

“You should choose your times carefully.

“Saturday starts cloudy, but will get warmer and more humid. The top temperature will be about 21°C.

“On Sunday the rain will clear away and it will be brighter and mostly dry, reaching 20°C.

“There will be a scattering of showers on Monday and a maximum of 20°C.”

There has been 105mm of rain in August – nearly twice the normal average.

But Mr Stevens said things would be looking up from next week.

He said rain would be pushing northwards from Tuesday.

He added: “Towards the middle and end of next week, the weather will settle down and we will see temperatures approaching the mid-20s and that might continue.

“We could see a bit of an Indian summer.”
