PLEASE come home, Ernie.

That’s the plea from a family whose beloved pet parrot went missing more than seven weeks ago.

Despite Ernie’s lengthy absence, his owners are still hopeful he will be found and have now offered a £1,000 reward for his return.

Victoria Roebuck, 20, said the African Grey, right, had flown off on June 19 after a kitchen door of their Barkisland home was accidentally left open.

She said: “A lot of people are saying ‘why are you still bothering to look for him?’ But parrots can be found months later; the longest was 18 months. We will do whatever it takes to get him back.”

Ernie can talk and his favourite words are “cup of tea”, “beautical” and “greetings!”.

If you spot or find Ernie call Victoria on 07595 980869 or 01422 825167.
