A RURAL pub has applied for longer opening hours.
The Fleece Inn at Barkisland has applied to open until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights and until midnight Sunday to Thursday.
They also want permission to sell alcohol and play music for longer.
But the proposals by the Fleece Inn, which is undergoing renovations and will open this month as a rural pub and wedding venue, have been opposed by a number of local residents.
A report, to be presented to Calderdale licensing members on Wednesday, show that 10 objections have been submitted.
Concerns raised include:
Increased noise and traffic in the early hours will impact upon the rural neighbourhood.
No other pubs open beyond 11pm, and residents fear it will set a precedent.
It is situated in a village of family homes and late-night noise will disrupt sleep.
Increased incidents of anti-social behaviour.
Problems during previous late-night opening at the venue which required police to attend.
The pub has said it will sign up to Pubwatch Scheme, will encourage smokers to use the rear of the pub, away from homes, and install CCTV.
Earlier this year the Fleece Inn was given permission for a single storey rear extension to include a roof terrace and glass balustrade, re-arrangement of the car park and access and a new bin store.
