HUDDERSFIELD bars are taking part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest wine-tasting event.

The Cherry Tree, at John William Street, and The Lord Wilson, at King Street, are taking part in the attempt from 6pm today.

The event is being organised by pub chain Wetherspoon's and will take place at the same time at its bars up and down the country.

People simply need to turn up and taste a free 50ml sample of wine – then fill out a form which is handed out to adjudicators.

The adjudicators must sign all the forms, to verify the number of people who have taken part at each venue.

Jamie Hanson, shift manager at The Cherry Tree, said they were hoping as many people as possible would support the event.
