BATLEY Baths will be getting a makeover this summer.

But it means the swimming pool will be closed for the whole of August.

The pool tank and pool walkways will be repainted, changing areas and poolside toilets redecorated and vinyl replaced on steps leading into the changing areas.

Lyndsey Kaye, operations manager for Batley Baths and Recreation Centre, said: “This August is expected to be a quiet time for us, so we decided to carry out this much-needed work when it would affect the least amount of customers.

“It will look great once it is finished.

“Meanwhile, our fitness suite, studio and sports hall will still be open as usual, as will the dryside changing rooms.”

Before the pool closes, Batley Baths will be holding a Sure Start Fun and Fit event on Tuesday, July 26, from 1pm until 5pm for families with children.

The free event will include swimming, gymnastics, a bouncy castle, soft play and healthy eating stalls. The theme is dance.
