A FAMILY of seven escaped from a fire in their Batley Carr home.
They were alerted by smoke detectors to the fire which had started in a mattress in a downstairs bedroom of the detached home in Lidgate Lane at 7pm on Sunday. One child was treated for asthma at the scene and for the effects of smoke inhalation.
