A POPULAR museum is to close.
Managers at the Yorkshire Motor Museum in Batley have confirmed the attraction will shut in January.
The museum operates from Alexandra Mills.
It was set up in 1993 and attracts motor enthusiasts from around the world, as well as visits from schools and colleges.
Assistant manager Chris Stonehouse said: “The whole community is going to suffer.
“The museum is also a global thing. Our website attracts people from the US and New Zealand. We're extremely sorry it's closing.”
He said the new owners of the site did not see the museum as a necessity.
The museum contains about 40 vehicles – many privately owned – including classic cars and a partially-built First World War biplane.
