CHAMPION bubble gum blowers have battled it out for the crown of the Best in Britain.

The Dubble Bubble blowing challenge was at Woolworths in Huddersfield.

It was to find someone good enough to compete in the final in London in October.

Each blower, who had to be aged between six and 12, blew the biggest bubble they could.

Official judge Emma Cliff measured their efforts using the Dubble Bubble Bubble Meter.

She said: "We had some really good attempts, but we will have to wait and see if they are good enough to get to the final.

"It is quite a skill to blow a really big bubble. But the children can usually pick it up pretty quickly.

"I just hope none of them have gone home with it in their hair!"

The best five from the 200 heats held across the UK will go forward to the final, with the chance of winning £3,000.

Dubble Bubble was the first official bubble gum brand, invented in 1928 in the USA.
