A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has been left traumatised after she was robbed at gunpoint.

Now her family and the police have urged people to name the teenager who threatened Tiffany Barden with a ball-bearing gun – and all for the sake of less than 10p.

The Dalton Junior School pupil was cycling on Ridgeway to her Dalton home when the mugger jumped from bushes at 3.45pm on Sunday.

He was wearing a balaclava and showed the terrified youngster a ball-bearing gun which he then loaded in front of her.

Her grabbed her pink purse featuring three dancing frogs, shoved her over and then ran off.

The purse contained a few coppers – less than 10p.

Tiffany picked herself up and pushed her bike home.

Tiffany’s mum, 31-year-old Karen Barden, said: “The thief is a total coward to do this to someone so young. What he has done has left Tiffany traumatised. She just keeps crying and hardly slept at all on Sunday night.’’

As soon as Tiffany had arrived home and told Karen what had happened, she went to look for the thief, but there was no trace of him.

He is white, aged 15 or 16 and tall.

He wore a black balaclava mask, a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms with a wide blue stripe down both legs. he also wore black or blue gloves.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: “There was absolutely no need to threaten and terrify a young child in this way. We would hope that anyone who knows who he is comes forward and tells us.’’
