COMMUNITY beat bobbies visited an Elland mosque to forge closer links between the community.

Members of the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team visited the mosque on Elizabeth Street to build on and reinforce the already strong links.

Inspector Mohammed Nawaz, who is in charge of the NPT, joined Elland-based officers at the mosque to talk to the imam and other elders.

Inspector Nawaz said: “The mosque is a focal point for the local Muslims in Elland and an ideal venue to reinforce the links my team has build with the local Muslim community.

“We want to listen to people’s concerns and see how we can improve our service.

“My staff work very hard and have been doing all they can to work with all the different sections of society and carry out high-visibility patrols to reassure residents.”
