FORMER police officer Mike Pannett is visiting Birstall and Cleckheaton Library and Information Centres to talk about his adventures in the force and how he became a writer.

Mike is author of Just the Job, Lad; Not on my Patch, Lad and You’re Coming with Me, Lad.

He will be talking at Birstall at 2pm on Tuesday, July 19 at and at Cleckheaton at 7.30pm on the same day.

Born in York, Mike joined the Metropolitan Police in 1988. He became one of the youngest officers to be given his own patch and served with the crime squad, murder squad and riot police.

In 1997 he transferred to North Yorkshire police and became a rural beat officer and eventually a wildlife officer. Tickets costing £2 are available from each library, call 01924 326227 for Birstall or 01274 335170 for Cleckheaton.
