IT’S a storyline which will no doubt grip the nation.

Will Corrie’s Gail be sent down for murdering her husband?

Actor John Beagley of Beaumont Park is integral to the outcome – he’s to serve as a jury member in her TV trial.

John, known by his middle name of Bill, said he would not reveal the outcome – even if he knew – as two endings were filmed.

But he said it’s a storyline which was great fun to be part of.

Filming for the court scenes took place at Bradford Town Hall a month ago and is due to be broadcast over the week from Monday, May 31.

Mr Beagley, 68, said: “It’s all in the can and was great to film. It was in the town hall at Bradford in the old court rooms which is a tremendous place.

“I wouldn’t tell you the outcome even if I knew, but we filmed a ‘guilty’ ending and a ‘not guilty’ ending.

“I won’t know which one they go for until everyone else does.

“I saw the girl who plays Tracy Barlow and she was right on with her villainy, it was quite amazing.”

The storyline features Gail McIntyre, played by West Yorkshire actress Helen Worth, who is currently on remand for the murder of her husband Joe McIntyre.

He was played by actor Reece Dinsdale, who was born in Normanton. He is also a keen supporter of Huddersfield Town and presented the video ‘Beyond the Touchline’ that went behind the scenes at Town’s former Leeds Road ground.

Starting in 2009 his Coronation Street character's van displayed a Huddersfield Town badge stuck on the windscreen.

He was at the Town v Leeds game in February with Street co-stars Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) and Craig Gazey (Graeme Proctor).

Gail has found herself sharing a cell with her former neighbour Tracy Barlow, who is helping the police get a confession out of Gail.

Mr Beagley, who has appeared in the soap on numerous occasions, added: “Helen was lovely to film with, but she was there to do a job and remember all her lines, and I was there to help make it look real.

“At the end of the day she had a serious job to do, I just had to remember where I was for continuity.”

The former company director is well-known as a cycling commentator and got his break on the big and small screens in Steve Coogan’s The Parole Officer and BBC drama The Hound of the Baskervilles.

He has previously been in Coronation Street and has appeared in Emmerdale, Heartbeat and Where The Heart Is.

Mr Beagley has also worked as an extra in Asylum with the late Natasha Richardson and Sir Ian McKellen, who has also had a cameo role in Coronation Street.

Other extra roles include a Touch of Frost and Diamond Geezer with Sir David Jason, who he described as ‘a really nice bloke’, the film Keeping Mum, Max and Paddy, Blue Murder and Lost in Austin.

Next week Mr Beagley resumes filming the BBC3 comedy The Lunch Monkeys, which stars Nigel Havers, who also appears in Coronation Street as the love interest of Gail’s mum Audrey Roberts.
