A BIKER was killed in a horror crash at a moorland beauty spot.

The 41-year-old man ended up jammed underneath a car after the smash on Manchester Road at Standedge cutting.

He was named this morning as Jeremy Turner, from Bradford.

The tragedy involving Mr Turner's Yamaha bike and a silver Hyundai Accent car happened at 3.20pm on Saturday.

Motorists stopped to help and tried to wedge large boulders beneath the car in a bid to prise it off Mr Turner.

There were an elderly couple in the car. The woman was shocked, so firefighters comforted her and gave her oxygen.

The crash happened on a right-hand bend just after the former Floating Light pub, about half-a-mile inside the Greater Manchester border.
