A HAULAGE firm has teamed up with Huddersfield road safety charity Brake.

Birstall-based Bedfords Transport has adopted Brake as its corporate charity.

Brake campaigns to stop deaths on the roads, reduce vehicle emissions and care for the victims of road crashes.

The move comes within weeks of Bedfords launching its own children’s road safety scheme, Beddy, which received backing from Brake. As a result Bedfords is now actively fundraising and supporting the charity.

Beddy is aimed at five to seven-year-olds and includes an interactive website – www.beddy.co.uk – where children can play educational games and puzzles and follow cartoon character Beddy as he travels about the country.

Parents and teachers can also get involved by downloading lesson plans and worksheets to help reinforce the road safety message.

Steff Pfadenhauer, managing director at Bedfords said: “The staff at Bedfords have always been very generous in giving their time and energy to fundraising for various schemes and charities. “
