A BEER festival is to raise cash for Colne Valley charities.

The all-day event will boost the funds for Golcar Winkle Club and will feature a beer brewed by Golcar Brewery.

The red ale has been brewed by brewery owner John Broadbent and his 23-year-old daughter, Gemma, who is Huddersfield's only lady brewer, known as a brewster.

John said: "There will be 15 beers from all over Yorkshire including one we have specially brewed for the occasion called Fettler's Fancy.

"All the beers have been sponsored by local companies and it is a tremendous community effort."

The event will be held at Golcar Conservative Club, next to the Rose And Crown pub, on Knowle Road, Golcar, on Saturday, March 20.

It starts at noon and entertainment includes Huddersfield Brass Oompah Band during the afternoon and a swing duet during the evening.

The entrance fee is £1 - and that even includes a commemorative glass.

Golcar Winkle Club is dedicated to raising money for charities and good causes in the Golcar area.
