SIX members of Al-Kimiya belly dancing troupe performed at Huddersfield Open Market at lunchtime on Saturday.
Organiser Lana Diamond said: “We had a crowd of around 40 shoppers and they thought it was fantastic. A few Arab people who were there said it was great to see belly dancing in Huddersfield because it’s a celebration of Egyptian culture.”
The dancers performed for 20 minutes, with a mixture of classic and folkloric Egyptian dance.
Lana said: “We organised the event to promote the holistic quarter of the open market and to celebrate cultural diversity.”
Al-Kimiya grew out of Lana’s Elemental Belly Dance school in Slaithwaite.
