STRONG winds have dealt a blow to organisers of Berry Brow Carnival.

They had bought a container to store all their carnival decorations when strong winds came along just three months later and obliterated it.

As a result, the committee has been forced to use garden sheds, garages and currently share a storage facility with Lockwood and Salford Village Green Committee.

But now they need to move out – and with the carnival just days away, they need help.

Berry Brow Carnival Committee member Carol Waters said: “We had campaigned for a while and were awarded a grant to buy the facility.

“We were so excited and thought that we would now be able to make our carnival more sustainable and look after our own equipment.

“But we have to appeal, once again, to anyone with a spare 20-foot container that they could lend us, as Lockwood and Salford need us out of their space.”

The fifth Berry Brow Carnival will take place between 1pm and 5pm on Saturday, August 6, at the Berry Brow recreation ground.

The Colloquium Saxophone Ensemble, welly wanging, medieval games and a tug of war are just a few highlights.
