FRIENDS and workmates young and old bid farewell to Beryl Beardsley as she prepares to leave her job as cleaner at Meltham Liberal Club after 38 years.

Beryl, 69, retires next month to enjoy a work-free Christmas and new year.

She started her working life at the club as a glass cleaner, before the era of automatic glass-washing machines.

Her leaving party saw Beryl reunited with former work colleagues.

She was presented with a number of gifts, including a carriage clock from club officials.
