YORKSHIRE Ripper Peter Sutcliffe is said to be seeking a move from hospital to jail.

The mass murderer - currently held in Broadmoor - is said to be making a bid to be moved to an ordinary prison.

Such a move would require prison authorities to consider his eventual release.

But there has been condemnation of the plan, which would involve Sutcliffe appearing at a Mental Health Review Tribunal. MPs and criminal experts have vowed to oppose any move by Sutcliffe which could set him on the path to freedom.

Sutcliffe, jailed in 1981, has been held in Broadmoor since 1984. He was convicted of killing 13 women.
