WORRIED residents have launched a campaign to stop their road being used as a rat-run.
People in Mirfield said the problem was worsened by drivers using it as a short-cut to the McAlpine Stadium when Huddersfield Town were at home.
Council bosses are being urged to take action to restrict traffic in Wood Lane.
A petition has been signed by 150 people living in the Wood Lane area between Huddersfield Road and Hopton.
Mirfield councillor Martyn Bolt said: "This is a road which was made for the horse and cart and is being used as a by-pass."
Residents want physical closures or access restrictions.
A top Kirklees councillor will be told of the problems when he visits Mirfield.
Clr David Payne, Cabinet member responsible for environment and transport, is due at a Mirfield Town Council meeting on Thursday.
