A LOCAL MP went to a special charity breakfast at Westminster.

Colne Valley MP Kali Mountford was helping to launch Cancer Research UK's Britain's Biggest All Day Breakfast.

The event is an annual nationwide fundraising event, in which friends and colleagues get together for breakfast to raise cash for the charity.

The official day for the event is Friday, March 12, but breakfast parties can take place any time during March.

These can be held at home, in the office or at school.

Last year Cancer Research UK raised more than £200,000 from the event and this year it is hoped they can top £250,000.

Annette Breeden, the charity's head of community fundraising, said: "Britain's Biggest All-Day Breakfast is a fantastic event.

"We hope that support for the event, now in it's sixth year, will be even greater than ever.

"By getting each of your breakfast guests to donate £1 or more, you will be helping Cancer Research UK in its quest to cure cancer faster, potentially saving many lives."
